Ashes Mania

With all the forthcoming sport with the British and Irish Lions in South Africa and the Ashes in England how will anyone find time for business?

The Tennis now on at Wimbledon so work is going to have to come second.

Can the Lions fight back and win in South Africa?

Let's hope so as it will make the final test a great game to watch.

Can Murray finally do what what Fred perry did so many years ago?

I wonder.

And will Spurs break into the top four of the English Premiership?

Or am I just a dreamer.

Photoshop and dealing with large images

Came across a client recently with Photoshop images circa 900MB!

The image are stored on a server and can take 5 minutes to load across a network.

The network is all running at 1GB and ping times are low.

Have got the user to allocate more RAM but still very slow.

The PCs in question appear to have adaquate RAM and the processors are not being hammered.

Is the only solution to get the images flattened and thereby reduce the file size?

Power Outages

Is this getting a bigger issue?

Last week was the second time with a month that a client had been hit by a power surge?

Are you seeing your clients having power issues? In both cases there was no UPS protection unfortunately.

There is some suggestion that East London will suffer more power outages due to the 2012 games?

In addition I am still surpised how few people take backing up of their data seriously and never test their backup data can be restored.
