What will be the Impact on Business of Swine Flu?

The government is now predicting 100,000 cases of swine flu per day in the UK by the end of August. The World Health Organisation formally declared on 11th June that Swine Flu is Pandemic,so what action is your business taking to counter the potential impact on your business.

Fortunately the level of fatalities has been very low however no knows whether the virus will stay the same or mutate? So the future is unclear.

It is estimated that 35% of the population in the UK could be impacted by the virus. That means that one in three of your employees could be effected. So though an employee manages not to catch the virus they may have to look after a family member and therefore will be unavailable for work.

Even if your company is impacted less what about your clients and your suppliers?

May be you should asking them how they are preparing to cope?

Will your clients go elsewhere if you can't meet their needs through a lack of staff?

Clearly the government admits the outbreak can no longer be contained.

So are you amending your business continuity plans to cater for the impact of swine flu or are you not worrying?

I would be interested to have your comments on what steps you have taken or are about to take?

Is the rise of home workers about to go through the roof?

If so will there be enough broadband capacity to cope with the additional traffic?

Let's hope that the predictions of the goverment are on the high side and that few people die from catching the virus.
