Are DELL losing the plot?

Some time ago DELL only sold directly to the public/business and there was no channel.

Then DELL introduced the concept of resellers and then they added large retail chains to the list of suppliers.

So what is Dell's long term plan of sales?

Is it their aim to get business regardless?

Do DELL know themselves?

It will be interesting to see whether DELL now look to drop their smaller resellers in favour of the larger ones.

Sometimes actions can come back to haunt you!

Swine Flu

So in the UK, the government now have reduced the predicted numbers expected to catch swine flue but there is still likely to be an expected surge later in the autumn.

I wonder how many businesses have taken the opportunity to review their remote access options for staff.

Surely it is better to be prepared than not?

The predicted number to die in the UK is now 19,000 which is still very concerning as these will be someone's child, wife, husband, partner, brother or sister.

What does surprises me is that UK PLC is not encouraging more remote access to ensure we continue to come out of recession. Swine flue can still impact the economy of the country significantly

With BT 21CN exchanges coming on stream every week and the availability now of up to 24Mbits/sec broadband speeds, remote working is a serious option for businesses to consider.

Remote working whilst possibly reducing the opportunities to catch or spread swine flue also reduces people carbon foot print so even more reason to adopt it.

We have just signed up our first high speed ADSL (24Mb download and 1 Mb upload ) customer.

So we are now seing some of the benefits of BT's 21CN project.

The good new is the service costs you the same as the old service.

So if you want higher speed business broadband then this may be the service for you.

Swine Flu

The Health Minister Andy Burnham only a few weeks ago commented that there could be 100,000 cases a day by the end of August. We now appear to have reached that figure in July.

Having been out of the country for a week it is clear how quickly things have changed. Now it is case knowing someone who knows directly somebody who has been unfortunate to catch the Virus.

One precaution I have taken is to alter my journey to client and to travel via a longer less crowded route.

However there is little else you can do short of becoming a hermit?

Just when the recession looked to be ending we will get hit with Swine Flue.

Your IT and Telecommunication systems may be an answer to help your business cope through this difficult period.

Planning now may considerably reduce the inpact of the Pandemic on your business.

What will be the Impact on Business of Swine Flu?

The government is now predicting 100,000 cases of swine flu per day in the UK by the end of August. The World Health Organisation formally declared on 11th June that Swine Flu is Pandemic,so what action is your business taking to counter the potential impact on your business.

Fortunately the level of fatalities has been very low however no knows whether the virus will stay the same or mutate? So the future is unclear.

It is estimated that 35% of the population in the UK could be impacted by the virus. That means that one in three of your employees could be effected. So though an employee manages not to catch the virus they may have to look after a family member and therefore will be unavailable for work.

Even if your company is impacted less what about your clients and your suppliers?

May be you should asking them how they are preparing to cope?

Will your clients go elsewhere if you can't meet their needs through a lack of staff?

Clearly the government admits the outbreak can no longer be contained.

So are you amending your business continuity plans to cater for the impact of swine flu or are you not worrying?
